AB de Villiers smacks a 19-ball half century, almost clears the stadium with a maximum

After the inaugural edition of T20 Global League was postponed due to logistical and financial issues, South Africa’s domestic tournament Ram Slam T20 Challenge took centre-stage to accommodate for the window created by the fiasco. As a result, top stars from the South African team gathered to represent their respective teams for participating in the high octane tournament.

One of the stars of world cricket who represents the Titans in the T20 tournament, AB de Villiers, stole the show with a 19-ball half century in the third game of the tournament against the Highveld Lions. In fact, one of the sixes he hit almost cleared the ground at SuperSports Park at Centurion.

After winning the toss, the Lions opted to bat first in the rain-curtailed affair of 15 overs. For the Lions, it was a one-man show as South Africa’s T20I specialist stood up to the occasion with his brilliant inning of 67 off just 42 deliveries, which comprised of 8 boundaries and two sixes. With the help of the innings from Reeza Hendricks, the Lions posted a score of 127 which meant that the Titans had to chase 135 in just 15 over in order to win the match with the help of DLS method.

One of the star attraction of the match was Kagiso Rabada facing off against Quinton de Kock. It was a highly fascinating contest as de Kock was already in his overdrive mode while Rabada almost got the wicket of the southpaw with a top edge which reached the stratosphere.

However, De Kock did his part by providing a start for the Titans with the help of his 20-ball 39. Morkel, who picked up three wickets with the ball, also contributed with the bat with his unbeaten 16-ball 41 while giving support to AB de Villiers who was his ballistic self at the other end. Both batsmen hit 5 sixes each, while one of them almost cleared the ground at Centurion.
