Abdul Qadir reckons tri-nation series as non-beneficial for Pakistan cricket
He also asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to churn out talents and groom them.
The Pakistani team is currently in Zimbabwe where they are playing a T20I tri-nation series involving the hosts and Australia. They managed to win three out of their four matches and have qualified for the final to be played on Sunday versus the Aussies at the Harare Sports Club. They won their first match against the home team, but Billy Stanlake and Aaron Finch blew them away in their second match.
Sarfraz Ahmed and his troops came back and won the remaining two contests to safely book their berth in the final. Meanwhile, Abdul Qadir, the former Pakistani leg-spinner, has mentioned that the series won’t quite benefit the team as their opponents are less experienced than their players.
Qadir’s message for the PCB
“The Tri-Nation series between Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Australia won’t benefit Pakistan as Zimbabwe is a low ranked team whereas Australia has played a young team in the series which is inexperienced as compared to Pakistan,” Qadir was quoted as saying by the media.
The 2019 World Cup isn’t even a year away and the Men in Green’s first match is on May 31 versus the Windies at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Last time around, they bowed out after their quarter-final contest against Australia in Adelaide. Qadir has also put forth the importance of keeping a bunch of cricketers, who can replace the stalwarts, provided any unwanted injury related matter spark.
“If in case any of our players from the national team gets injured or hurt, then his replacement will be present in the A team,” the retired leg-break bowler added. Moreover, he also asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to churn out talents and groom them.
