Actor Ali Zafar slams Imran Khan for his ill-timed tweet
He wished that the cricketer should have waited for the cricket excitement to subside before talking on negative issues.
Pakistani actor Ali Zafar has been an ardent fan of cricket. He has shown his love for the game time and again. This year, he sang the anthem for the Pakistan Super League (PSL). And recently, when the cricketing action returned to Pakistan for the Eliminator of the PSL 2018, the happiness knew no bounds for the popular celebrity.
However, he felt a little awkward with former cricketer Imran Khan giving a dead eye to the PSL. The entire nation celebrated in joy with cricket coming back to Pakistan. However, Imran Khan had other issues to discuss at the very same time. Imran took to micro blogging site Twitter to express his concerns on the growing corruption in the country.
Here is what Imran Khan had tweeted:
“As if Sharifs’ & Dar’s crime of money laundering & corruption had not taken enough of a toll on the country’s economy, the disastrous policies of Dar have led to the rapid fall of rupee value over the last few months, piling up the mountain of external debt for Pakistani nation,” Imran Khan had tweeted.
While his concern was a very legit one, Ali Zafar did not like the timing of the tweet coming in from the legendary former cricketer. Ali responded back to the tweet and asked Imran Khan to rejoice in the joy of the country that is celebrating the return of cricket in Pakistan.
He noted that the concerns shown by Imran Khan are fine. However, he should have taken care of the time when he posted those tweets. He wished that the cricketer should have waited for the cricket excitement to subside before talking on negative issues.
“Sir, we do love you for your efforts for the country but perhaps “timing” on issues matters? On a day nation celebrates cricket we do expect you (as our cricket hero) to appreciate, if not participate in the joy and sentiment of the country that comes with cricket coming home :),” Ali Zafar wrote in his tweet.
