Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan reproduce the headbutt incident involving Bairstow and Bancroft

The Ashes is where the talking starts months before the actual start of the series and there are mind games from both sides. Everything and anything even off the field is considered to be directly related to the action that is set to unfold on the ground. The first Test this time witnessed many significant moments during the play, but the headbutt incident involving English wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow and Aussie opener Cameron Bancroft caught a lot of attention as well.

The incident happened during the warm-up games when Bairstow answered a handshake from Bancroft with a headbutt. But both the cricketers revealed that the gesture was completely harmless and the debutant handled the whole incident very maturely.

The commentators of the Test match, former Australian keeper Adam Gilchrist and former England skipper Michael Vaughan tried to mimic the controversial incident in a funny style. Both the former cricketers enjoyed their time trying to imitate what would’ve actually happened. Gilchrist played the role of Bancroft, while Vaughan did the Bairstow part.

Hilarious mimicry

The former Aussie wicketkeeper mimicked the role of the debutant Bancroft and stated that “Was expecting a handshake,” when Michael Vaughan headbutted him after the completion of the first Test. The commentary duo enjoyed the whole situation and described it perfectly.

These are dumb decisions

While, both the players and former cricketers took this in a healthy manner, the ECB and the England coach Trevor Bayliss didn’t like the whole headbutt incident. Bayliss also spoke about some dumb decisions which the English cricketers are making recently. Team director and former English opener Andrew Strauss also supported the team and stated these players are “not a bunch of thugs” and also has restricted cricketers from staying out in the midnight during the Ashes tour down under.
