Shortly after Rahul Dravid’s claims on Virat Kohli setting a bad example for young cricketers, former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist also affirmed a similar kind of statement on Kohli’s aggressive nature as a captain and a player.

Earlier this week at an event, Dravid asserted that some of the verbals from Kohli prior to a high octane series makes him ‘cringe’. Also, the legendary Indian batsman who is now the coach of the Indian U-19 and India ‘A’ team believed that one must follow their authenticity much like Virat does rather than copying someone.

Gilchrist, on the other hand, revealed that had he been in his team, he would not act similar to the VK. “If I were on his team, I wouldn’t be identical to him on the field. You have got to do whatever comes naturally to you and what you believe in. It doesn’t mean every player who doesn’t act like Virat questions him,” suggested Adam Gilchrist according to Hindustan Times.

Churchie full of good words for MSD

Much like Rahul Dravid, Gilchrist adviced that if cricketers aren’t authentic to oneself, it won’t benefit them. “If it’s a false bravado, at some stage it will let you down. You will get caught because you will be pretending so much that you’ll forget to play the game of cricket,” further added the three-time world cup winning wicket keeping batsman.

That said, the 45-year-old was full of good words for former skipper MS Dhoni and believed that his versatile qualities will benefit the team greatly and also influence Virat Kohli’s captaincy by bringing in the calm he possesses.

“I think they (Indian team) probably benefit more than they know by his (Dhoni) experience and him just being around. I wonder whether people around undervalue his experience and calmness that MS brings to the change room,” concluded Gilchrist.
