Adam Parore, former New Zealand cricketer, fined for drunk driving

He failed a breathalyzer test.

Adam Parore, former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman was sentenced to $500 fine and was disqualified for 6 months from driving, after he pleaded guilty to the drunk driving charges before Community Magistrate Lauolefale Lemalu, at the Papakura District Court, Auckland.

Parore, who played 78 Test cricket matches and 179 One Day Internationals for New Zealand from 1990-2002, was also ordered to pay the court costs. Parore had featured in the New Zealand team that played in the World Cup tournaments in 1996 and 1999.

Adam Parore’s offense of drunk driving

47-year-old Adam Parore was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and failed a breathalyzer test and had a blood alcohol level of 100 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood, while the legal limit is 50 milligrams per 100 milliliters. He was charged with one charge of driving with excess breath alcohol, reported The New Zealand Herald.

Court documents showed that Parore was caught driving over the limit on January 26 on Clevedon-Kawakawa Rd. He has recently moved to the rural area of Clevedon. Presently, Parore works as the managing director of his financial services firm, Adam Parore Mortgages.

Parore’s New Zealand career

Parore also made 2865 runs in Tests and 3314 runs in One-Day Internationals during his career with one Test century and two centuries in ODIs. The 47-year-old also has 313 catches and 32 stumpings to his name. Adam Parore holds the record for the highest innings in One-Day Internationals without scoring a boundary.

Adam Parore scored 96 in 138 balls against India in an ODI at Vadodara that was played as part of the Wills World Series. In 2008, Parore signed up as a player in the short-lived Indian Cricket League T20 tournament. In 2011, he also became the only Test cricketer to climb the Mount Everest.
