Adam Voges is an interesting player. When it comes to playing in the domestic circuit, his batting abilities are something similar to what can be seen as a breath of fresh air. However, there is also the awesome Test record in a couple of years gone by that Voges has indeed impressed with the bat.

Of course, that record has taken a blemish in recent times but there is somewhat of a solace in the fact that the 37-year-old has a lot of cricket still left in him despite the fact that he has been dropped from the Test side in recent times. Playing for the Perth Scorchers in the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League, Voges has had a mixed outing with the bat.

In the encounter against the Sydney Thunder, a match that his side would go on to win, Voges was retired hurt after just having scored the three runs. The incident occurred when Voges was batting with fellow Australian teammate Mitchell Marsh. Facing Chris Green, Voges made a futile attempt to sweep the ball to the unguarded square-leg fence.

However, he inadvertently missed the ball catching a slight nick as well as it threaded through to the very excited Jay Lenton behind the stumps. Not realizing that he was going to be turned down whilst appealing, Lenton instinctively whipped off the bails. However, this once again played in the favor of the surprised and rattled Voges as he went on to limp away towards the square leg umpire with what was viewed as a considerable limp.

The subsequent replays proved that the batsman had indeed made his ground. However, this was a moment of unluckiness, something the 37-year old has been fighting almost the entire duration of his cricket career as he limped away to the haven of the dressing room with some groin-related issues.
