Adam Zampa unperturbed after the stone pelting incident after a moment of fright
It was a pretty scary incident. You never want those things to happen. It was disappointing: Zampa
Australian leg-spinner, Adam Zampa, revealed that the stone pelting incident which shattered one of the window panes of the team bus rattled him a bit momentarily but did not perturb him further. The leggie claimed that it was disappointing to see one goon ruin it for the rest of the cricket crazy fans in Guwahati.
The unfortunate incident occurred during Australia’s retreat towards the team hotel after winning the match against India in the 2nd T20I by a margin of eight wickets. Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore and Assam Chief Minister already condemned the act of sabotaging the progress of Assamese in the sporting arena and ensured safety to the athletes visiting the nation.
Zampa, who was seated inside the bus, revealed he heard a “loud bang” despite wearing headphones.”I had my headphones on quite loud and was looking towards the other side of the bus. I just heard this loud bang. It was a pretty scary five seconds or so.” commented Adam Zampa according to TOI.
Not the first time rock pelted at Australians
This is not the first time rocks were pelted at the Australians during the tour. Even during the Bangladesh tour, the Australian team bus was damaged due to stone pelting.
“Our security guard mentioned quite quickly that it might have been a rock. It was a pretty scary incident. You never want those things to happen. It was disappointing. I think everyone was alright. I think after what happened in Bangladesh with the rock as well, no one was too rattled. It was dealt with quite well, I think,” added the young leggie.
“The Indian fans are so great to us, which is one of the reasons why it’s so hard to travel here. They’re so loud, they love cricket and they’re so passionate about it. Guwahati doesn’t get much cricket as it is so for one person to do that and to spoil it for the rest of the Indian fans, it’s pretty disappointing,” concluded the RPS bowler.
