Adelaide Oval's new hotel likely to be offered to team India as self-isolation centre during their Australia tour
The hotel having 138 rooms is set to open in September.
Adelaide Oval is one of the most iconic cricket grounds in the world. The stadium was supposed to be a crucial part of the Australian cricket summer of 2020-21. The upcoming cricket summer in Australia will be one of the biggest the country has experienced in recent times. With the Men’s T20 World Cup and the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Australia cricket fans were anticipating this year’s summer for some time now.
However, due to the COVID-19 crisis, the chances of these events happening have come under some uncertainty. The T20 World cup was scheduled in October and November. As there is uncertainty regarding the tournament, Cricket Australia (CA) is hopeful that the COVID-19 crisis won’t hamper India’s tour of Australia 2020.
Adelaide Oval, which is due to launch a new hotel adjoining the stadium in September, have come ahead with a suggestion which will help CA to host the series against India. According to the report in The Age, South Australia Cricket Association (SACA) has suggested Cricket Australia to use the new hotel of the Adelaide Oval to accommodate Virat Kohli and his men if they are allowed in the country to play the series.

The report suggests that SACA chief Keith Bradshaw has reached out to CA boss Kevin Roberts and has informed him about the same if the Indian team is allowed to enter the country. With the coronavirus threat increasing with every day passing, medical authorities are under pressure regarding hosting the series.
Upon entering Australia, the Indian team might have to follow the 14-day self-isolation rule. During this time, the team might suffer from not having a proper opportunity to practise. Keeping this in mind, SACA has come up with this proposal. The hotel of the stadium will have 138 rooms and is expected to open in September. “Kangaroo Island and Rottnest Island have also been mooted as potential self-isolation sites for a visiting team,” the report added.
According to the report, the stadium will provide the “world No.1 Test nation to train in first-class cricket facilities at the adjacent nets as well and give them access to suitable dining and nutrition options.” With all the facilities available, it seems that the Australia-India Test series will go ahead as planned.
