England’s right-arm leg-break bowler Adil Rashid has been fantastic in the ODI series against Ireland. England took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Ireland with a comfortable 6-wicket victory in the first ODI on Thursday.
In the first match against Ireland, Rashid bowled three maiden overs and gave 26 runs in his 10 overs. Also, he took one wicket of Kevin O’ Brien while maintaining an economy of 2.6. Kevin was caught by David Willey while he was trying to hit Adil for a boundary.
Interestingly, Rashid has yet again taken the precious wicket of Brien in the second ODI which is right now happening in The Rose Bowl stadium at Southampton. This time, the 33-year-old used a googly to dismiss the Ireland batsman. The ball can be classified as a pure beauty as it left KOB bamboozled.
Kevin was preparing to play for the leg-break as he lunged forward but the ball spun through the bat-pad gap and crashed into the middle stump. It was a display of brilliant bowling by England’s leg-spinner.

Like the first match, Adil has been performing brilliantly in the second ODI too against Ireland. In his 10 overs, he took three crucial wickets of Harry Tector, Kevin O’Brien, and Lorcan Tucker and thrashed the batting line-up of the Ireland team. Also, the bowler gave just 34 runs at an economy of 3.4. It is a do or die match for the Ireland team as losing this match would mean losing the series.
Having made his international ODI debut for England in 2009, Rashid has till now featured in 101 ODIs and 43 T20 Internationals taking 147 and 41 scalps respectively at an economy of 5.58 and 7.36.
