I have admired Younis Khan throughout my career: Hashim Amla
Pakistan leads the 3-match series 1-0.
South Africa’s Hashim Amla has revealed he has been an admirer of former Pakistan legend Younis Khan throughout his career. Younis is the highest run getter for Pakistan in Test format and retired earlier this year. Amla is playing the second T20 International for World XI against Pakistan in Lahore today.
The right-handed opener looked fluent in his 26-run innings in the first match but was dismissed by Rumman Raees on the final ball of 6th over. But he would surely love to light up the Gaddafi Stadium with his fluent stroke play on Wednesday. The second T20I is the must win game for the visitors to keep the series alive and take it to the decider on Friday.
His work ethics were always immaculate
In an interview with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Amla said that he has always admired Younis. “For me, Younis Khan has always been somebody I have admired throughout his career and throughout my career,” Amla said. He also mentioned that he followed Younis’s career till his last game against West Indies. The Proteas star was also impressed with the work ethics of Pakistani batsman.
“His work ethics always seem to be immaculate for somebody who has played international cricket for so long.. To maintain that type of excellence in Test cricket is phenomenal,” Hashim Amla continued on Younis, who became the first Pakistani batsman to score 10,000 Test runs before hanging up his boots.
Cricket finally returned to Pakistan on Tuesday and the long wait of the PCB since 2009 to host an international game finished. Babar Azam played a beautiful knock of 86 from just 52 balls in his debut innings at home and in front of the raucous crowd. He was adjudged Man of the Match deservedly as Pakistan took 1-0 lead over Faf du Plessis led side.
