Afghanistan coach Phil Simmons to expose the chief selector Dawlat Ahmadzai after the 2019 World Cup
All is not well in Afghanistan cricket.
Afghanistan were expected to give the top teams a run for their money in the ongoing World Cup. But the Asian team has struggled completely losing all of their five matches so far and more importantly, the fighting spirit is lacking in the side. A lot has happened in the last couple of months in Afghanistan cricket with Asghar Afghan being removed as the captain while Mohammad Shahzad was also ruled out of the tournament on controversial circumstances.
Gulbadin Naib was made the new skipper of the team which was opposed by the likes of Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan as well. The wheels are coming off now and the blame game has started with the Afghanistan chief selector Dawlat Ahmadzai accusing the coaching staff of not preparing well for the mega event.
When made aware of the same, the head coach Phil Simmons took to his official Twitter handle to express himself and stated that he will let the Afghanistan people of everything after the World Cup.
Trying to get our team to perform
Phil Simmons has clearly has some issues with the chief selector and former Afghanistan cricketer Dawlat Ahmadzai. Simmons wasn’t aware of Asghar Afghan being sacked and similar was the case with Mohammad Shahzad later during the World Cup. He has decided to open up Afghan’s sacking matter after the quadrennial event and controversy might soon hit Afghanistan cricket in the near future.
“I am in the middle of a World Cup and trying to get our team to perform to the level we expect but at the end of the World Cup I will tell the Afghanistan people about the part that Mr Dawlat Ahmadzai had to play in our preparation and his part in the dismissal of #AsgharAfghan,” Simmons’ tweet read.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan are scheduled to face India in their next encounter on Saturday and the fast-improving Asian team will hope to put up a better show in this game.
