Afghanistan pacer Shapoor Zadran expresses his desire to meet Shah Rukh Khan

Afghanistan left-arm speedster Shapoor Zadran has expressed his desire to meet “Badshah of Bollywood” Shah Rukh Khan ever since landing in Mumbai and has also revealed that his favourite actor in Bollywood is none other than “King Khan”. Afghanistan batting coach Umesh Patwal however, told him that Shah Rukh is currently busy shooting a film in England.

During an interaction with Indian Express Zadran said, “ would like to go but he must be a busy man. Plus, when I reached the airport Umesh told me that I had to bowl as many overs as possible to get back into the groove.” He also said that he was overwhelmed with the way Indian cricketers welcome the minnows every time they play against them.

“MS came and told us after a match that we were a promising team and would do well. Kohli came and hugged us after a match. If you are a star, that’s what you do – you come and hug a junior, a pat on the back. There are expectations from heroes, and it’s nice when Indians show us that respect. Yuvraj, Rohit Sharma…” “Dil bada hona chahiye – in bowling and when winning,” he further added.

The Afghanistan team is currently in Zimbabwe playing an ODI series while Shapoor Zadran is busy regaining full fitness in Mumbai. The left-arm seamer who is an integral part of the Afghanistan squad has missed international action for the last 6 months after sustaining a right knee injury. He is currently working towards regaining full fitness before the start of the home season in Noida.

Afghanistan has one of those few teams who has gained from strength to strength in the last few years and went on to beat eventual champions West Indies during the World Twenty20 in India earlier in 2016. Afghanistan also qualified for their first 50 Overs World Cup in 2015 after impressive wins in the qualifying rounds of the tournament.
