Afghanistan’s tour to Zimbabwe in February was postponed, and now, the Afghanistan cricket team will instead take on the Bangladesh side in a limited-overs series that will commence on 23rd February 2022. The series against Zimbabwe was postponed because Zimbabwe could not arrange for a broadcaster.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) stated that the Decision Review System (DRS) is likely to be in place for the series, but has not yet confirmed whether crowds will be allowed to attend the series.

The Afghanistan cricket team will land in Bangladesh on 12th February 2022 and will be involved in a training camp ahead of the limited-overs rubber against the Bangladeshi Tigers. While all the ODI matches of the series will take place in Chattogram, the T20I leg of the series will be played in Dhaka.

The ODI series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be a part of the ODI World Cup Super League

The ODI series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will form a part of the ICC ODI World Cup Super League. The Bangladesh side is sitting comfortably at the 2nd place in the ICC World Cup Super League points table after posting 8 wins in their 12 matches thus far.

On the other hand, the Afghanistan outfit is occupying the 5th position. Afghanistan are unbeaten thus far, having won all the 6 matches that they have featured in. Afghanistan were last seen in action in a three-match ODI series against The Netherlands side. Afghanistan dished out an absolute thrashing to their opponent and beat The Netherlands 3-0. In each of the encounters, Afghanistan did not even give their opposition a whiff of a chance, and produced a clinical performance with both bat and ball and overpowered The Netherlands cricket team.

Bangladesh last played a two-match Test series against the New Zealand side. The Bangladeshi Tigers levelled the two-match Test series against the Kiwis 1-1 and put up a good performance against the Black Caps in the land of the Kiwis.
