Afghanistan’s dream run in Twenty20 Internationals continued in the 3-match T20I series against Ireland as they have won in each and every game they have played in the shortest format since defeating West Indies in the WT20 2016. After completing the series win in the first two games itself, Afghanistan completed the whitewash with a 28-run win in the 3rd and final T20I, which turned out to be a high scoring and record-shattering one. Here we look at all the records, stats and numbers recorded during the game and series.
1 – Rashid Khan, at an age of 18 years and 5 months, is the youngest to receive a series award in T20I format. Previous: Quinton De Kock (21 years 3 months) in 2014.
2 – Afghanistan now has won two 3-match T20I series by winning all the games, they became the first team to register whitewash in two different 3-match series in T20I cricket. 7 other teams managed to whitewash once in a 3-match T20 series.
7 – Balls took by Ireland to lose their last 5 wickets, the joint 2nd worst 5-wicket collapse in terms of balls in all internationals. (Where ball by ball data is known) Worst collapse is in 6 balls for Australia against Pakistan in World T20 2010.
9 – Number of wickets Rashid Khan has taken in this series, the joint 2nd most by any player in a bilateral T20I series. Netherland’s Ahsan Malik took 11 wickets in 4-match series vs Nepal. David Wiese, Ravi Ashwin and Imad Wasim took 9 wickets apiece in a 3-match bilateral T20I series.
9 – Number of sixes Mohammad Nabi has hit during his innings, the joint 5th most sixes and most sixes hit by an associate team player in T20I innings. Mohammad Shahzad’s 8 sixes vs Zimbabwe last year are the most sixes hit in a T20I innings by an Afghanistan and associate player.
9.7 – The Afghanistan and Ireland series run-rate of 9.7 is the highest in any T20I series/tournament which had 3 or more games. Previous: 9.52 during South Africa vs West Indies series in 2015.

28 – Number of sixes hit during the game, the 3rd most sixes hit in a T20I. Last year’s West Indies vs India T20I had 32 sixes while Ireland vs Netherlands game in 2014 WT20 recorded 30 sixes.
