After the hosts put up a stoic resistance on Day 3, India delivered the goods on the fourth day to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. The top performer of the game for India was all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up his 9th 5-wicket haul in Test cricket besides scoring a breezy 70* in the first innings.
An evening with ‘The Great Khali’
India finished off the formalities with more than four sessions to spare in the game. They will now aim for a whitewash, a feat they have never achieved in Sri Lanka. Since the game was closed out on the fourth day, the Indian team got plenty of time to unwind and recuperate. Skipper Virat Kohli met the WWE sensation ‘The Great Khali’ last evening and it was opener Shikhar Dhawan’s turn to post a similar picture on his Instagram account.
Dhawan was seen posing with the wrestler and had his skipper alongside him. Apart from these two cricketers, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya were also present in the picture. It seems like they all enjoyed their meeting with the Indian wrestler who stands at 7 ft 1 inches. All four cricketers, who are fit and well built, looked very tiny in front of Khali who is built like a tank.
Whitewash on the cards
India has five days to recover and prepare for the Pallekele which starts from Saturday. The visiting team looks very keen to make it 3-0 but will have to go in the game without the services of Ravindra Jadeja. The last game’s Man of the Match was suspended by the ICC after he was found guilty of breaching a clause, an incident he was also involved in last year.
Kuldeep Yadav will come in place of the Saurashtra cricketer in all probability. With the series already in the bag, India might think of giving the reserve players a run in the Pallekele Test.
