Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian all-rounder has become an outspoken figure on social media platforms. On Wednesday, he took a dig at Greg Chappell for his statement that he had asked MS Dhoni to play grounded strokes more instead of going for maximums that might have helped him in becoming a good finisher.

The former Aussie cricketer is rated as one of the most controversial coaches in the history of Indian cricket. He coached Team India between 2005 and 2007. As far as critics are concerned, he played a major role in India’s downfall in World Cup 2007. Moreover, he didn’t have good relations with the senior cricketers in the side.

Recently, in an interview, the 71-year-old revealed the advice that he gave to MS Dhoni during his early days. Chappell said that MS Dhoni used to smack the ball for boundaries and sixes like it is a cakewalk for him. He recalled that he had asked Dhoni to play grounded strokes instead of going for big shots during one of the matches.

“I vividly remember that I was left awestruck when I saw him batting for the first time. He was definitely the most exciting cricketer in India at that time. He used to hit the ball from the most unusual positions. He is the most powerful batsman I have ever seen. I just felt if he could take out the risk factor from his game, then he could become a much better finisher,” the former Australia cricketer said while speaking to PlayWrite Foundation.

Harbhajan Singh, the veteran spinner took a hilarious dig on Chappell’s controversial term with Team India. He took to his Twitter handle and said that the former coach was himself hitting everyone outside. This is the reason he asked MS Dhoni to play along the ground.

Harbhajan was probably referring to some of the controversial decisions Chappell took during his time at the helm. He also termed those days as the worst in Indian cricket. His post read, “He asked Dhoni to play along the ground coz coach was hitting everyone out the park. He was playing different games #worstdaysofindiancricketundergreg.”

As soon as Yuvraj Singh came across the comment of his former Indian teammate. He quickly responded wittily stating he and Dhoni were told to play grounded strokes in the last 10 overs and not to go for sixes. The 38-year-old took to his official Twitter handle and wrote, “Msd and Yuvi no sixes in the last 10 play down the ground.”
