After international retirement, MS Dhoni to turn a producer with wife Sakshi
Sakshi also revealed that Dhoni will partially be involved in the operations of the production house.
One of the most successful Indian skippers, MS Dhoni, last month, stunned the entire cricket fraternity by announcing his international announcement. The veteran revealed his decision on Instagram as he shared a video showing his cricketing journey.
Amid the Ranchi stalwart’s one-year absence from the sport, many questions were raised over his future with the national side. Dhoni, the only captain to clinch three major ICC trophies, put an end to all the retirement speculations on 15th August 2020.
After bidding adieu to his international career, Dhoni is currently in the UAE, leading his franchise Chennai Super Kings in the on-going IPL 2020. Meanwhile, over a month after his retirement from the biggest stage, Dhoni is all set to start a new inning in the entertainment industry.
The former India skipper, who had launched his banner Dhoni Entertainment in 2019 with the multilingual documentary Roar of the Lion, is planning to roll out multiple projects in the near future. Sakshi, Dhoni’s wife, has revealed in an interaction with Mid-day about the couple’s plans with their production house.
We’ve acquired the rights of an unpublished book: Sakshi Dhoni
“We have acquired the rights of an unpublished book of a debutant author. We will adapt it into a web series. It is a mythological sci-fi story that explores the journey of a mysterious Aghori and is set at a high-tech facility on a remote island,” said Sakshi.
The creative team is currently working on finalizing the cast, as well as the director. Furthermore, the production house simultaneously also has five other projects in the pipeline.
Sakshi also revealed that Dhoni will partially be involved in the operations of the production house and the day-to-day running will be handled by her. The couple is going to focus on dishing out fresh stories and giving an opportunity to deserving individuals to flaunt their skills.
“When we were developing Roar of the Lion, we thought it was the perfect time to venture into the entertainment industry. We aim to give a platform to deserving talent to showcase their skills along with providing fresh and original content to the audience. Mahi will be partially involved [in the production house].
The day-to-day running of the company is looked after by me. We have a process to ensure quality control from the word go. Mahi and I take the final call with our team’s inputs and suggestions. Our aim is to produce good stories from our heart,” added Dhoni’s better half.
