India have been excellent with the ball.

The first Test between Australia and India is interestingly poised as the visiting bowlers are making a meal of the score they’ve posted on the board. It took only one ball for the Aussies to bowl India out in the morning but they wouldn’t have expected for the Indian bowlers to wreak havoc. All the talk was about the batting getting easy on the second day under the sun but Michael Vaughan is thrilled with the way India’s pace trio along with the lone spinner has bowled so far at the Adelaide Oval.
They have kept the batsmen on the tenterhooks from the word go and though the partnerships have prospered, the run-rate has been kept under extreme control. Hardly the scoring per over has gone over 2 so far which is the slowest Australia have played in a home Test in the first innings since 1994.
Ravi Ashwin has been the best bowler among all. He has bowled with great control so far and unlike previous overseas tours, has made an immediate impact on the game. The off-spinner has grabbed three wickets so far and is looking good for even more.
Vaughan surprised with Aussie trepidation
Meanwhile, on the opening day of the series, Michael Vaughan predicted for Australia to win the contest even as many felt India were the favourites. However, after coming on to bowl, Ishant Sharma was the first one to strike as he sent Aaron Finch’s stumps flying in the very first over. Since then, India have managed to keep a lid over them while picking wickets at the regular intervals.
Vaughan was immensely impressed to witness some epic bowling spells as there was no let off from either end by the visitors. Though the former England cricketer was surprised to watch the defensive ploy by the home side. “Full credit to the Indian Bowlers .. they have bowled beautifully with great skill & control … Never have I seen a Aussie team at home play with so much trepidation .. #AUDvIND,” his tweet read.
