Former Indian captain MS Dhoni came up with an excellent piece of work behind the stumps that caught Bhanuka Rajapaksa short of his crease in the game between the Chennai Super Kings and the Punjab Kings on Sunday (April 3). Rajapaksa managed to hit a six in his short stay of 5-ball 9, however, the Sri Lankan soon perished after trying to sneak in a single in Chris Jordan’s first over.
It was a huge wicket as Rajapaksa had played two blinders in the last two games and looked like the danger man for the CSK side. The credit has to be given to Dhoni for running towards the stumps in quick time and hitting the stumps with a low-arm throw before Rajapaksa returned to the crease.
It also has to be noted that it wasn’t the best of throws from the fielder and Dhoni collected the ball on one bounce, which is really difficult. The 40-year-old dispatched the ball by diving in front once he got hold of the ball and won the race against Rajapaksa comfortably.

MS Dhoni is still the fittest
The run-out was evidence of MS Dhoni still having the goods in him to deliver in pressure situations, and he hardly misses hitting the stumps from his position. The wicket also reminded of the 2016 T20 World Cup game between India and Bangladesh when the then India skipper had run from the behind the stumps and took the bails off before the batsmen had reached. No doubt, Dhoni is rated among the best wicketkeepers to have played for India and is still fit as ever.
Meanwhile, Punjab lost two early wickets after Ravindra Jadeja had asked them to bat first at the Brabourne Stadium. However, Liam Livingstone and Shikhar Dhawan took advantage of the remaining overs in the powerplay and picked up 72 runs at the end of the 6-over mark. The pitch has looked like a batting paradise so far and a run feast is on the cards with some exciting batters in both the line-ups.
