The Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad is presently going through a lean patch in the international circuit. He has been in and out of the national team for a while now. Recently through social media, he was seen with former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who was giving him some important tips to improve his batting.
Shehzad last played for Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy’s first encounter against arch-rivals India. He didn’t have a great outing in the game as he was dismissed for 12 runs and his team lost the match by 124 runs. After the match, Shehzad was dropped from the playing eleven for the rest of the tournament. On the other hand, Pakistan team went on to make a historical comeback by winning the championship for the first time.
Inzi is a big support
Inzamam was appointed as the chief selector of the Pakistan national team in April 2016. The former right-handed batsman has also worked with the Afghanistan team in the capacity of the head coach. Being an experienced campaigner, Inzi is often seen giving the boys some useful tips on how to improve their batting and performance.
The legend likes to share his invaluable experience with the talents in the country, like Shehzad who has shown great promise and has the potential but for some reason has not quite been able to give his best on the field in his recent times. Though he is designated as the chairman of selectors he certainly extends his area of operation and has been doing everything he can to give a push to cricket in the country.
Shehzad’s International career
The right-hand opener has represented Pakistan in 79 ODIs and 49 T20s in which he has scored 2597 and 1148 runs respectively. He also played 13 Tests and scored 982 runs in the longer format. He is the only Pakistani cricketer to register centuries in all the three formats of the game.
