Ahmed Shehzad, Junaid Khan named in the PCB Patrons XI

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalised the 13 member PCB Patrons XI for the three-day Day-Night game against West Indies in the United Arab Emirates.

The team was selected by Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq in consultation with the National Selection Committee. The team comprises of national team discards and rising domestic names.

Former openers Ahmad Shehzad, Shan Masood and Fawad Alam along with pacer Junaid Khan were the most noticeable names in the squad.

Out of favour Ahmed Shehzad was shown the door outside the team due to disciplinary issues. Slight controversy also erupted after he recently backed from the national T20 tournament due to back strain. Shan Masood and Fawad Alam currently sit out of the team due to poor performances with the national side.

Junaid Khan remained on the sidelines due to a persistent knee injury. The left-arm fast bowler, who has played 22 Tests and 52 ODIs for Pakistan team, was out of action at the international level since 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Other promising names like Imran Khan sr.,Asif Zakir, Adnan Akmal and Iftikar Ahmed are also the part of the team.

PCB Patrons XI will play the day and night fixture from October 7-9 against West Indies at Sharjah International Stadium. The Day-Night match will start at 3:30 pm UAE time.
