Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi has been facing the heat of the Indian fans in the recent days. Afridi has been at the receiving end of all hate tweets following his recent tweet on Kashmir. While the Indian fans are bashing Afridi for his baseless remark, the former cricketer has found some support from his former teammate and current Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad.
Ahmed Shehzad took to micro blogging site Twitter to extend his support to Shahid Afridi in the case. Earlier, it was Afridi who had posted a tweet on the current violence in the Indian state Kashmir. Afridi had urged the UN to intervene in the civil violence and take stern actions against India. He had gone on to term Srinagar and the adjoining places as ‘Indian occupied Kashmir’.
This certainly did not go down too well with the Indian fans. The Indian cricketers were not far behind either. First one to slam Afridi among the popular names was veteran Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir gave a serious mouthful response to Afridi to shut him in some style. Soon, Suresh Raina came up with a tweet asking Afridi not to spread hate.
The list was then joined by the likes of Ishant Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan who gave decent advice to Afridi to stay in his limits and mind his business. Amidst this backdrop, Ahmed Shehzad has jumped in to the conversation. He tried to remind the Indian fans that they are mocking the same cricketer who had them overawed a month ago with his friendly gesture towards the Indian flag.
Here is what Ahmed Shehzad tweeted:
“When this picture was being taken Lala insisted that the flag be held upright.. as it should be. As neighbors we have rights toward each other and also responsibility to spread peace and love. It hurts me to see the way my Indian peers reacting to our national hero.. totally not cool,” Ahmed Shehzad wrote in his tweet.
