Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft have been penalized severely ever since they confessed their crimes in front of the media. Whilst Warner and Smith were handed a 1-year ban for their major involvement in the scandal, the talented youngster Bancroft was slapped with a 9-month ban, which means he can return to cricket this Australian summer. Warner and Smith will be back in action next March.
Whilst all these cricketers are getting heavily trolled on social media, Air New Zealand came up with the most cheeky troll. One of the major airlines in New Zealand, ANZ posted a video on their official Twitter handle where they offered the trio to visit New Zealand to watch the Test match against England at Christchurch. They mentioned that it’ll be a good way to escape the heat he’s facing back home.
“Hey Steve Smith, we hear you’re heading home for some time off. Whilst you’ve been a naughty boy, our boys have been doing rather nicely. This Friday, we’re taking on the poms again in Christchurch. How about a masterclass in (Legal) swing bowling? Also, it’s a little cooler down south. So it might be a nice way to escape the heat back home. David (Warner) and Cameron (Bancroft) are welcome too,” the ANZ wrote in the video.

Cricketers incur huge financial losses
Apart from getting banned for a good period of time, all these three cricketers will face a lot of financial losses as well, especially David Warner and Smith. Both these players hold a massive annual contract with the Cricket Australia, which got terminated for this year. They also held possession of a Rs. 12.5 Crore contract with their respective IPL franchises, which also was terminated till the time their punishment period is not completed.
Cricket Australia received a massive jolt as well. They lost their major sponsor Magellan, who decided to part ways with the board in light of the recent events. Australian coach Darren Lehmann getting a clean chit in this fiasco didn’t go down well in the media as well. Not many are willing to believe the coach will have no role in such a humongous plan.
