BCCI has been seeking out contenders to fill in their slots for various roles with the Indian cricket team. In the latest turn of events, it has been reported that former Indian wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra has shown his interest for the fielding coach position of the Indian cricket team. Talking about his career, the Faridabad-born cricketer has been part of six Tests and 12 ODIs.
On the other hand, Ratra has played 99 first-class matches. It has to be noted that Ratra has plied his role for various coaching positions earlier and stands to be the head coach of the Assam team. He is in the northeastern state as the state is preparing for their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy run beginning on November 04.
“It will be great if I can contribute to team India’s success if given a chance,” Ratra said on his development as quoted by the Times of India.

The 39-year-old has been an active member at National Cricket Academy and has also worked with Indian players like Wriddhiman Saha and Rishabh Pant. Talking about the head coach position, it was reported that former Indian legendary batter Rahul Dravid is all set to take the position. However, nothing official was given out from the BCCI’s end.
However, 26 October was reported as the last date to fill out the application for the head coach position and Dravid has now formally filled the form for the position. Dravid has a great experience of plying his trade with young cricketers of India and has been lauded time and again for developing young talents across the country. He was even appointed as head coach of the second-string Indian side that went to tour Sri Lanka while the main team was on their tour to England.
“Yes, Rahul has formally applied today as it’s the last day of the deadline. His team at the NCA, bowling coach Paras (Mhambrey), and fielding coach Abhay (Sharma) have already applied. His application was just a formality,” a BCCI official stated on Dravid’s latest development.
