Having won the ODI series against New Zealand recently, the Indian team presented it to the fans as the Diwali gift. But the festival of lights was made even special for the Indian batting star Ajikya Rahane as the defending champions of German Bundesliga Bayern Munich sent him a special gift.

The football club presented him their team’s jersey with the cricketer’s name inscribed on it. It also had the number 27 on it along with the name which the right-hander wears on his India’s jersey.

Rahane was overwhelmed by the gesture of the German giants and expressed his gratitude over Facebook. He also promised to give something back to the club as a return gift on India’s biggest festival.

The 28-year-old then sent a jersey of India’s limited over cricket team with his own name inscribed on it to the German club. The official Facebook page of Bayern Munich showed their star footballer Arjen Robben posing with Rahane’s jersey.

Robben’s photograph was presented along with wishes to Indian fans on the page “Arjen Robben certainly enjoyed receiving his Diwali gift from Ajinkya Rahane! We hope all our Indian fans had a very happy Diwali!.”

There is a huge fan following of the German club in India and Robben is one of the most popular amongst the Indian football fans. So, it was a great gesture by the club to portray him along with the jersey and the Diwali wishes for the fans in Indian contingent.

Rahane was celebrating the festival at home after returning from Vizag having won the final ODI. From here, he will head to the preparations of the next assignment as India will play host to England in a 5-Test series starting followed by 3 ODIs and 3 T20s. He will be hoping to continue the form he showed in the Test series against New Zealand.
