'All corners? what about deep 3rd man' - Ben Stokes comes up with hilarious reply on Carlos Brathwaite's T20 World Cup-winning sixes
Ben Stokes has established himself as regular allrouder for England across all the formats.
Ben Stokes, the England all-rounder had a great year as far as cricket is concerned. He helped England in winning their maiden 50-over World Cup and also performed extremely well in the Ashes. He has given several brilliant performances since his arrival in the national team but one thing that cannot be taken away is the four sixes that Carlos Brathwaite smashed against him in the last over of the T20 World Cup 2016 final, because of which England lost the chance to win the T20 World Cup.
The 28-year-old made his debut back in 2011 and has become a vital part of the England cricket team across all the formats. He has played 59 Tests, 95 ODIs and 23 T20Is in which he has mustered more than 6000 runs and grabbed 217 wickets across all the formats.
Ben Stokes will never forget Carlos Brathwaite’s 2016 T20 World Cup-winning sixes
If Stokes had to pick one of the worst performances that he gave in international cricket, then it might be his final over against West Indies in T20 World Cup 2016. In that particular game, England had almost won the game as West Indies were in need of 19 runs off the last six balls in order to win the match with lower-order batsmen on the field.
It looked like an impossible task for West Indies as Stokes was bowling at his best until the last over. However, a miraculous performance from Brathwaite with four consecutive sixes in four balls took the match away from England. Stokes looked shocked and disheartened with his performance in the final. He was almost left in tears as he had lost the chance of making his side winning their second T20 World Cup.
Today, one of the sports organizations shared a video clip of the final overs from that particular match and captioned it, “If you need a reminder of that sensational over by TridentSportsX where he took Ben Stokes to all corners of the ground, then look no further!”. In that clip, Brathwaite was seen hitting those outrageous sixes against the England all-rounder. They also hilariously mentioned that the West Indies player smashed Stokes all across the park.
As soon as it caught Stokes’ attention, he came up with a cheeky reply and said that Brathwaite didn’t hit him over the third man for a six. His tweet read, “All corners???? what about deep 3rd man,”.
