All that you need to know about the upcoming cricket carnival – PSL: Pakistan’s passion for the game of cricket comes second to none. A country studded with players like Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal and Junaid Khan and many others promises to entertain the cricket fans across the world with its all round show. But sadly we haven’t witnessed much of the mayhem in recent times. Pakistan have been terrific in the shortest version of the game since its inception and we feel pity for the circumstances which led to a cricketing drought in the country.

But they haven’t stopped trying. Come February next year and the world will witness Pakistan’s biggest T20 cricketing carnival which promises to take the world by storm.

All that you need to know about the upcoming cricket carnival – PSL:

1. In a league of its own:

Pakistan’s domestic scenario doesn’t look much promising and the cricketing facets doesn’t beg to differ much. Hence this league will provide a much awaited platform for the youngsters to rub shoulders with international players. PSL promises to be action packed with the likes of Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Lasith Malinga and many more. The West Indies talent hub featuring Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell will be at the disposal as well, which further makes the tournament an interesting prospect. Dilshan, Grant Elliot, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan is also set to sign up for this upcoming league.

2. Friendly banter across the nation:

PSL will feature 5 teams- Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Karachi, Lahore. And most importantly the players wont be going under the hammer at an auction. If reports are to be believed then PSL will take a cue from Caribbean Premier League and players will be put under the brackets of Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. The league promises to reach out to the masses and don’t be surprised if people start swearing by their favourite franchise.

3. A rope to hang on to:

Each team will have a minimum of 12 local and four foreign players and they will all be selected through a ballot. This will also come as an opportunity for many local umpires, match referees and the talented coaching staffs in the nation.

4. Make some moolah:

With such establishment around the corner, money cant stay behind. Each team will have a salary spending cap of roughly $1 million. With broadcast rights, sponsorship rights, apparel rights and ticket sales, the league won’t lack any bit from the top leagues operating around the world. The franchises will be free to sell its own sponsorship rights and for that, there is no set limit and depends on the deal they are able to crack.

5. Cricketainment on the cards:

Glitz and glamour are a part of cricket carnivals, and PSL is not far behind. Don’t let the chill go down the spine, witness a platform where the actors, actresses, singers and other celebrities come together to mark an evolution.

6. Unpredictability is the new cool:

When we coin the word unpredictable, Pakistani players make an uninviting move. From Shoaib Malik to boom boom Afridi, Pakistan have proved critics wrong on most occasions. T20 being an unpredictable format, is easier to blend with these talented power hitters.

7. Spells to die for:

World cup 2015 will be best remembered for Wahab Riaz’s spell against Australia. Pakistan, known to be a bowling heavy, will dish out its favourite course in the inaugural season. Yasir Shah will be in the spot light while the likes of Irfan and Junaid will look to fire through all cylinders as well.

The tournament will commence in February, 2016 and promises to be action packed throughout its course.
