In a great exhibition of off-field camaraderie, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh were involved in a cheeky banter after Gambhir posted a throwback image on his official Instagram, where Yuvraj can be seen pulling him by his jersey towards himself during a red-ball game.
A part of India’s 2007 T20 and 2011 ODI world-cup winning teams, Gambhir and Yuvraj played plenty of cricket alongside each other and are known to be good pals. That was on display as Gambhir notoriously wrote: “Thank God we have big smiles on our faces otherwise ppl wud think you’re stopping me frm getting into a fight @yuvisofficial.”
Renowned for his leg-pulling and habit of having harmless fun at the expense of his teammates, Yuvraj was quick to respond, as he wrote: “I always had to do that to stop you from getting into a fight.”

Post-retirement, Gambhir has joined politics, while Yuvraj has been involved in the work of public welfare through different initiatives, including the various noble causes served through his foundation YouWeCan, a non-profit organisation that aims to help people battle cancer through awareness and early detection.
Meanwhile, in one of his own initiatives, Gambhir is set to start a 10-team based T20 cricket tournament by the name of East Delhi Premier League at the upgraded Yamuna Sports Complex, which was recently upgraded to Ranji Trophy standards with two international-level dressing rooms, four pitches, practice pitches, floodlights, electronic scoreboard, canopies, dressing room, sponsors box, and a side screen.
The tournament is set to have three international players as selectors, while the teams from 10 constituencies – Jangpura, Okhla, Trilokpuri, Kondli, Patparganj, Laxmi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Shahdara, Krishna Nagar and Gandhi Nagar – would be selected after trials. The 39-year-old further informed that the tournament will kickstart in October last week and will last until November.
Updating about the same, he recently tweeted: “I PROMISE TO DELIVER! World Class Stadium ready at Yamuna Sports Complex! East Delhi Cricket League (is) to start very soon!
Gambhir represented India in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is, amassing over 10,000 runs in international cricket.
