There is still some time before the Ashes 2017-18 begins, but Australian speedster Mitchell Starc has already found his rhythm, and that too in quite a fashion. The leader of Australia’s pace attack earlier managed to pick up 10 wickets in a game against South Australia, and now has achieved a remarkable feat by taking two hat-tricks in a single game. The victim of this obliteration was Western Australia.

In the first innings, Starc bowled Jason Behrendorff before trapping David Moody leg before wicket. The hat-trick was completed by a fiery and pacy yorker directer towards Simon Mackin, who could not really cope up with Starc’s lightning speed.

The second innings’ hat-trick followed a similar pattern, as he again dismissed Jason Behrendorff. While he was bowled in the first innings, he edged the ball straight to the wicketkeeper Peter Nevill’s gloves this time. David Moody was then subjected to a ruthless yorker, and he too was very slow to put his bat down in time to stop the ball from hitting the bails.

His final victim was Jonathan Wayne Wells, who edged the ball into the hands of skipper Steve Smith, who was standing at first slip. And no one would expect a fielder of Smith’s calibre to miss such an easy chance, which eventually completed what was an exceptional and extraordinary achievement.

They know it’s coming, but they can’t stop it

Starc’s better half, Alyssa Healy perfectly summarised the plight of the batters who were subjected to face the disdainful onslaught called Starc. The Gold Coast, Queensland-born wicketkeeper of the Australian women’s cricket team, who has donned the yellow jersey over 125 times, said: “It’s funny that they are like, they know it’s coming but they can’t stop it”. Alyssa Healy is also the wicketkeeper of the Australian women’s cricket team.”
