When all go east, Kamaal Rashid Khan aka KRK goes west. The veteran film personality loves courting controversies and he did it again, this time by mocking the Mumbai Indians’ victory in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. Rohit Sharma’s side had a modest success with the bat in the game as they scored 149 and the Chennai Super Kings had a good start only to lose their plot towards the end to lose by a single run.

It was the third time that the CSK lost a final to the MI in the IPL and they lost all the four encounters they have had with the men in blue and gold this summer. The MI now has the most number of IPL titles – four. The CSK had a good start to their chase of 150 to win the tournament but after their openers, Faf du Plessis (26) and Shane Watson (80) put up 33 for the first wicket.

After du Plessis’ got dismissed, Suresh Raina (8) added 37 runs for the second wicket with Watson but from 70 for 1, the men in yellow got reduced to 82 for 4 with Raina, Ambati Rayudu (1) and captain MS Dhoni (2) departing in quick succession. Dhoni got run out following an overthrow and his dismissal had put the CSK’s chase in a jeopardy. Dwayne Bravo (15) and Watson then resurrected the chase by 51 runs but Bravo’s dismissal in the penultimate over followed by Watson’s run-out in the final saw the CSK falling short by a single run.

KRK jumped on to the CSK’s chase and raised suspicion in a tweet that Dhoni’s team deliberately lost the match. He said batsmen like Dhoni, Raina, and Rayudu got themselves out “forcefully” while an “unnecessary” run-out of Watson proved that the Ambanis, who own the MI, could do anything in the country with their money power. The MI is owned by the conglomerate Reliance Industries of which Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, is the chairman and managing director.

While KRK’s controversial tweet was liked over 2.3k times, it also saw a number of fans lashing out at him for presenting his unique analysis.
