Amitabh Bachchan congratulates MS Dhoni on his special achievement

Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is known to be one of the safest men behind the wickets. Although unorthodox and unconventional, his keeping style is highly effective. He has his own successful technique of catching the ball and possesses exceptionally quick reflexes. Moreover, he is one of the fastest stumpers the game has ever witnessed.

In the third ODI between India and South Africa, MS became the first Indian wicketkeeper to be involved in 400 dismissals. He stands fourth on the list of wicketkeepers with the highest number of dismissals in ODIs. Dhoni has 295 catches and 106 stumpings to his name in ODIs with much more to come. He was flooded with wishes after reaching the milestone and the great Amitabh Bachchan was also one of those many who congratulated the legend.

As a wicketkeeper, the first thing that coaches teach you is to collect the ball cleanly. It is only after grabbing the ball in their gloves that keepers usually go for a stumping. Many a time, this wastes very important split-second of time that makes a difference in a stumping. However, it is widely accepted and followed as it is a safe and effective technique.

But, it is a completely different case when Dhoni does his stumpings. He very often collects and hits the bails in one go not wasting even a millisecond. This is exactly the reason what makes him the fastest stumper and that is how he reached in 400th ODI dismissal.

As soon as he spotted Aiden Markram skip down the pitch and miss the ball, he didn’t waste even a second to stump him out. Markram didn’t even bother to turn back after coming out of the crease. As usual, there was MS Dhoni’s trademark celebration.

Bachchan who admires the former Indian captain congratulated him on Twitter for his massive achievement. ‘May you ever prosper’ added senior Bachchan. MS Dhoni on several occasions said that he was a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan. Also, MS only followed ‘The Angry Young Man’ on Instagram before his daughter’s account was created.
