Bollywood veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan is a popular cricket fanatic. He has been a globetrotter and maintained sporadic appearances during India’s matches. Last night, a cricket-frenzy Amitabh took to Twitter to comment on a workout video Indian cricketer Suresh Raina posted.
The Indian middle order batsman posted an intense video from his gym session on Twitter. The video illustrated Raina doing leg extensions, chin ups and a couple of other workouts. The Indian team is set for an away trial against Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue will play three Tests, five one-day internationals, and a solitary T20I with the first Test scheduled to start on July 26 at the Galle International Stadium. The first ODI will begin on August 20.
Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya also got a call up from the selectors to feature in the Test squad for the upcoming tour. 27-year-old Abhinav Mukund was retained as the reserve opener. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav also maintained his place in the squad as the third spinner alongside Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
When the team for the limited-overs leg of the tour is announced all eyes will be looking for this one name who has been a match winner for the national team in the past but has been out of favour for some time now.
In the interim, CAC finally appointed on Tuesday, Ravi Shastri as the new head coach of the national side until the 2019 World Cup. The vacancy arose after Anil Kumble resigned following an unsuccessful Champions Trophy campaign in June. His relationship with skipper Kohli ripened and led to an eventual rift. Subsequently, India went for the Caribbean tour without a head coach.
Zaheer Khan was named bowling consultant for the same tenure, while Rahul Dravid will be India’s batting consultant for overseas Test series.
