Rohit Sharma will be back leading the Mumbai Indians for the seventh consecutive year. He took over captaincy back in 2013 when Ricky Ponting decided to drop himself midway through the season. Ever since then, Rohit has led the side in every game he’s played for the Mumbai Indians.
Ahead of the season, the Hitman also revealed that he will be opening in all the games possible. Despite being a regular opener for the Indian team in white-ball cricket, he has been reluctant to bat at the top of the order in the IPL. In fact, he has opened the batting in just 19 IPL matches so far. However, his record in international cricket as an opener and also the upcoming World Cup prompted the MI skipper to shift to open the batting.
