A survey conducted by The Ethics Centre displayed highly “arrogant” and “dictatorial” culture results in Australian cricket. Furthermore, only 14 of the 42 players who were sent a survey filled it in. It certainly didn’t help the cause of Steve Smith and David Warner. Also, most of the players who responded felt that the ban was appropriate.
England cricketer Kevin Pietersen took this as an opportunity to make some nasty comments on Darren Lehmann. Both have had a history between each other and engaged in quite a few exchanges. The former Englishman minced no words in describing Lehmann’s negative impact on the Australian cricket team culture.
An explosion was always waiting to happen with Lehmann at the helm
Taking to Twitter, the 38-year-old stated a review of the Australian cricket culture. He felt that Lehmann was taking the team in a wrong direction and such an incident was just around the corner. Kevin Pietersen was referring to the ball-tampering saga earlier this year in the Australian tour of South Africa. He further questioned Cricket Australia whether Lehmann is still in their radar.
“Australian Cricket’s culture review. Having played in that system for the last 4 seasons & with Lehmann carrying on like he did, I’m afraid an explosion was ALWAYS going to happen! Is he still employed by CA?!?!”

Pietersen’s career himself has been surrounded with controversies. The cricketer was infamously sacked from the English team following his attitude problems as suggested by the ECB. He was also reprimanded for sending texts about his skipper Andrew Strauss to the opposition team.
A Twitter user sarcastically took on Pietersen and asked him to stop speaking about culture. However, Pietersen pointed out that he was quite vocal about coach Andy Flower too. “I can! I hammered our stinking culture lead by Flower so I’ll have an opinion on one very similar by Lehmann!”, he replied.
