ICC World Cup 2015 – New Zealand v South Africa, Auckland
In the big semi-final game between New Zealand and South Africa, the first version of DLS revised the target of hosts to 298 in 43 overs. South Africa made 281/5 in 43 overs after rain cut down their innings by seven overs when they were 218/3 in 38 overs. The revised target looked a bit too less for the Protea backers with someone like AB de Villiers still at the crease.
They would have ended up posting 400 in the presence of ABD and JP Duminy aided by the short boundaries of the Auckland’s Eden Park. In hindsight, the target did cost South Africa as the Kiwis chased down the total off the penultimate delivery with Grant Elliot hitting a six off Dale Steyn. The next update of the DLS in 2016 would have revised the target to 300 while the latest one increases it to 303.
