'And that’s a Six' - Actor Arjun Rampal reacts as Tata replaces Vivo as IPL title sponsor

Tata has replaced Vivo as the title sponsors of IPL.

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be grand affair with two new teams – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – coming in the picture. Hence, for the very first time since 2011 IPL will be a 10-team event. A mega auction is also set to take place next month which would several times going under major revamps.

Meanwhile, the Tata group has replaced Vivo as the Title sponsors of the competition. The Chinese mobile phone brand had a contact till 2023. As they decided to pull out of the remaining two seasons, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) roped in the Tata group. As per several reports, Vivo had agreed to pay INR 2,199 crore for five seasons beginning in 2018.

The original deal was set to end in 2022. As Dream11 sponsored the 2020 edition of the league, the contract was extended till 2023. Now, that Tata has replaced Vivo as the title sponsors, they will pay the amount for the remaining two seasons. It must be noted that a six percent share will be paid by Vivo they didn’t complete their five-year term.

Arjun Rampal delighted with the deal

With Tata being one of India’s top multi-industry companies, several fans were delighted with the deal and Arjun Rampal was also among them. Taking to Twitter, Rampal wrote: “And that’s a Six!!! What a way to replace logo of Sponsor of IPL.”

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that BCCI is happy by associating with India’s most trusted business group. “This is indeed a momentous occasion for the BCCI IPL as the Tata Group is the epitome of global Indian enterprise with an over 100-year-old legacy and operations in more than 100 countries across six continents,” Shah said in an official statement.

“The BCCI like the TATA Group is keen to promote the spirit of cricket across international borders, and the growing popularity of the IPL as a global sporting franchise bears testimony to the BCCI’s efforts,” said Shah in an official statement,” he added. Meanwhile, IPL 2021 is likely to get underway in the first week of April while the mega auction will take place next month.
