'And they blamed Anuj Rawat?' - Twitter disappointed as RCB skipper Faf du Plessis scores duck against Gujarat Titans

After two consecutive defeats in the week gone by, the Royal Challengers Bangalore would be desperate to get back to winning ways against the Gujarat Titans in Match 43 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on April 30. The batting let them down in both games and RCB would be banking on their batters to live up to the expectations this time around.

Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis called it right at the toss and decided to have a bat on account of it being an afternoon game. While he did make the right decision, he could not get set at the crease opening the innings and went back to the dugout without troubling the scorers. Thus, the captain had yet another day to forget.

Opening the innings with Virat Kohli, du Plessis looked to lay a solid foundation for RCB but that did not happen as he could not even score a single run before his dismissal in the second over.

While Virat scored the runs, du Plessis failed to open his account before deciding to cut loose for getting off the mark. Pradeep Sangwan, who was playing his first game for Gujarat, bowled a good length delivery around off stump which completely deceived the batter as he attempted a cover drive only to get an outside edge as the ball went straight to wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. Faf du Plessis had no choice but to walk back for a duck having faced four deliveries.

After the captain’s early dismissal, batting megastar Kohli and Rajat Patidar ensured that there were no further hiccups as they carried out the rescue act. The former skipper also went on to register his first half-century of IPL 2022.
