Andre Russell expresses his hope for Islamabad United victory in PSL 3
Andre Russel was the leading wicket-taker in the inaugural edition of PSL in 2016 and took 16 wickets at an average of 17.25.
With the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) around the corner, global stars and the locals are gearing up for the T20 encounters that will take place in Lahore and Karachi apart from UAE. The hype ahead of the competition has begun as the franchises have begun activities in the buildup to the tournament.
Islamabad United, the winner of the inaugural edition of the PSL in 2016, are looking to get back to winning ways and the comeback of West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell to their ranks has boosted the morale of the side. Russell’s potential in the T20 format is no surprise and his presence in any side means you have the support of a match-winner with you.
Can’t wait to regain the title
In a video message to the fans of PSL and Islamabad United, the 29-year-old cricketer from Jamaica said that he can’t wait to contribute for Islamabad in order to win the title once again.
“See you guys soon in the upcoming PSL, and I can’t wait for us to regain our title,” he said in the video message sent to Geo.tv by the franchise.
Russell was the leading wicket-taker in the inaugural edition of PSL and took 16 wickets at an average of 17.25. He missed the second edition in 2017 due to a doping ban. He is now looking forward to a better and successful 2018, considering that his year-long suspension comes to an end later this month. He will return not only to his PSL side but also his IPL side, Kolkata Knight Riders, who retained him ahead of the auction.
“I hope that 2018 can be way better than 2017,” he said.
The third edition of PSL starts on February 22 with defending champions Peshawar Zalmi taking on the new entrants Multan Sultans in the opening game. This year, the eliminators will be held in Lahore and the historic final will be held in Karachi.
