Andre Russell and his antics go so far as to hot sixes, or make a mohawk from different colours, or perhaps even some audacious batting. His heavy arms and abilities to clear the fence is something that makes him such an asset for any team he plays for. Having been recalled to the ODI squad, Russell was certainly a happy man.
Having been banned for a year or so by the World Anti-doping Agency (WADA), Rusell marked his international return and return to Windies cricket in the One-Day International against Bangladesh. The latter had been on the receiving end of a massive hammering at the hands of the hosts when they were repeatedly and continuously bowled out in the Test series.
However, a Tamim Iqbal century and some good batting ensured a decent score, something that was certainly beyond the point of victory for the hosts. However, one thing that gave the viewers from in and around the Islands something to smile about was the fact that Ande Russell slammed a massive 104 meter six from the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman.
Russell heaved the ball miles beyond the deep mid-wicket fence and into the second tier as that was the end of Mustafizur Rahman and his confidence of being able to bowl fast and quick, and the odd ability to indimidate batsmen with his fearsome pace.
At the end, it was a brilliant coup for Courtney Walsh and his Bangladesh side as they have eased some of the pain from the loss of the Test series and the manner in which they lost out as well. At the moment, they will now meet their opponents on the 25th of July for the second ODI at Guyana.
Here is the video of Russell going big:
