West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has been highly successful in the shortest format of the game. He had played some match-winning knocks in the World T20 earlier this year and in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Imran Tahir is probably one on the best leg-spinner in the cricketing world currently.
Russell along with Tahir has both signed new deals with Nottinghamshire for Natwest t20 blast 2016. Last season, Tahir had featured for the club in three matches and had picked up 10 wickets, before he pulls out suffering from a hamstring injury.
Nottinghamshire’s director of cricket, Mick Newell, revealed to Cricbuzz, “We’ve been speaking to both players for a while. It’s been a long-term plan. We were keen to get them in and were very happy it’s over the line. With his batting, bowling and fielding taken into consideration, Andre is one of the leading T20 players in the world right now, and he keeps proving it at big tournaments. In Andre’s case, it’s an added bonus that he’s a very effective fast bowler as well. He’ll hopefully, help us put some important wins on the board in the competition before jetting off to the Caribbean Premier League, which is very much the way of it for the global stars these days”
Tahir will play in the 7 matches for the club whereas Russell will play only four matches next month, two against Derbyshire and one each against Yorkshire and Worcestershire. If the club qualifies for the next level, Tahir will be a part of it as well.

“Imran enjoyed his time here last year, he wanted to come back, and we’re only too happy for him to do so.Having him available will also allow us to make the most of some of the drier pitches in four-day cricket at the back end of the summer. He can be a threat on any surface, but throw him the ball on something that’s offering turn and bounce and he could be a real match winner for us at a pivotal point of the season. He can also be a really positive mentor to the spinners we already have at the club; players like Samit Patel, Matthew Carter, Sam Wood and Connor Marshall can all learn a lot from Imran,” Newell said about Tahir.
