Andre Russell to miss out KKR's crucial tie against SRH
Andre Russell, who picked up an injury in his left leg in KKR’s previous match against RCB, is likely to miss the crucial game against Sunrisers Hyderabad today.
“He’s probably going to miss out. He has a hamstring problem and was receiving treatment when I left the hotel”, revealed Katich.
Russell has been a crucial part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ campaign in this edition of the Indian Premier League. His hitting ability down the order has fetched Knight Riders 188 runs at a strike rate of more than 160 to go with his crucial 15 wickets.
Russell’s injury alone hasn’t derailed their campaign. They should have sealed a spot in the play-offs after accumulating seven wins from 11 games. However, they’ve lost the momentum after two consecutive losses against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions.
The Knight Riders, going into this clash, needing a win to seal a play-off berth. Katich backed his team to get into a positive mindset ahead of the clash after two thrashings.
“Everyone was really disappointed with the result in Kanpur the other night,” he revealed. “A loss like that doesn’t mean we are a bad team. That’s the nature of this format. That’s something we have to deal with.”
“We can’t let the disappointment linger for too long. We have to get into a positive mindset. We have to fix what went wrong in the last game and that’s what we need to do. It would have been nice to train this afternoon and get that in our system but that’s not to be and we’ll prepare a little bit earlier before the game starts.”
