In the recent times, the fans have seen their favourite cricketers list out their all-time great cricketers. The lists keep changing as different people have perspective for choosing their best XI. Former English skipper Andrew Strauss is the most recent player to have joined the trend. In a recent video released by the Lord’s Ground official Twitter handle, Strauss picked his favourite All Time XI. To begin with, Andrew Strauss named two English batsmen as the openers of his team.
He chose former England opener Marcus Trescothick as the first player in the list. Strauss mentioned that Trescothick had a ‘huge influence’ on his career. The other opener in his team was current English Test skipper Alastair Cook. Cook found a place in the list for the fact that he is the leading run-getter for England in Test cricket at the moment. At number three, Andrew Strauss picked former Australian opener Justin Langer. He pointed out that it was Langer who helped him distinguish the county cricket and the international cricket.
Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis found himself at number 4 in the list. Speaking about Kallis, Strauss quoted, “You needed an absolutely brilliant delivery to get him out. He was an absolute superstar.” Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar often finds himself in most of the favourites list. This one was no exception either. Commenting on Sachin, Strauss said, “Just an unbelievable player who could master any conditions.”
He did not forget to mention his childhood hero Brian Lara in the list. For the wicket keeper, he chose arguably the best wicket keeper of yesteryears, Adam Gilchrist. Shane Warne, the former Australian leggie, was the next man in the list for the reason that he had managed to dismiss Andrew Strauss many times. One of the surprising inclusions in the list was of South African speedster Morne Morkel.

Morkel was joined by former Australian quick Glenn McGrath. Lastly, there is former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar that completes Strauss’ all-time XI. He mentioned that Akhtar was perhaps the fastest bowler he ever faced.
