Andrew Tye’s name has been making the rounds in the various T20 leagues of the world. His impressive performances in the Big Bash League earned him a spot in Australian T20 team in 2016. The ‘T20 specialist’ had to wait for two years to get a call-up in the ODI team. Andrew Tye grabbed his opportunity with both hands as he was impressive in the ODI series, as he took a five-wicket haul in the fourth match of his career.
The 31-year-old fast bowler played for Gujrat Lions in the last season of the IPL where he took a hat-trick on his debut. Andrew Tye also bagged 2 hat-tricks in Big Bash in 2017, as he became only second cricketer to take 3 hat-tricks in T20 cricket. His ability to bowl a variety of deliveries make him a death over specialist. A lot of franchises needed a death-over specialist in their ranks, hence there were many bids for the Australian pacer. Kings XI Punjab eventually won the race for the pacer as they signed him for 7.2 crore rupees.
Andrew Tye very happy with the bid
The 31-year old seemed to be very excited about the offer as he recalled the days when he was not even a professional. He said that is unbelievable as he admitted that it is a ‘dream come true’ for him. “It’s been a whirlwind tour from four or five years ago when I wasn’t even a professional – so [it is] unbelievable and a dream come true,” Tye told reporters as quoted by the Sportskeeda.
Andrew Tye’s teammate, Chris Lynn has been struggling with injuries recently. The 31-year-old backed Lynn to regain his form. He signaled a warning to the bowlers saying that Chris Lynn looks back in form. “He’s hitting them pretty well, he’s looking as good as ever. He’s ready to take down some bowlers.” Andrew Tye added
