The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has reported that newly appointed coach of the Indian cricket team Anil Kumble can stay on as chairman of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Cricket Committee.
Speculations immediately began to circulate that Sourav Ganguly could take over Kumble’s post at ICC after his appointment as the head coach. But, now it has been made clear that Kumble is free to hold on to his ICC post. Darren Lehmann and Rahul Dravid are other examples of individuals who have served as coaches, though in different capacities.
“My understanding is that he can continue to be at this post. There have been few other former cricketers who are now performing the coaching duty and still the members of the ICC committee,” the BCCI official was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle on Wednesday (June 29).
“Darren Lehmann is Australia’s coach and Rahul Dravid is attached with the junior teams in India and are the active members of the ICC’s high-profile committee. Why should Anil Kumble leave this post?,” the source added.

However, an official statement has not been made on this matter. Also, it depends whether the Kumble is keen to multi-task with two big responsibilities or not. as it could be difficult to manage his commitments having taken up the full-time role with India.
