The resignation of the head coach of Indian cricket team, Anil Kumble came as a shock to many cricket lovers. The former Indian captain had been extremely successful in his one-year long endeavour as the coach of the Men in Blue. But current Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his boys were not willing to obey the instructions of the authoritarian.

According to the players, Kumble’s training sessions were too harsh. After a humiliating drubbing against Pakistan in the final match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Kumble scolded the players in the dressing room. But apparently, the players were furious with this behaviour.

Following all the controversies, Kumble abruptly decided to step down as the coach of Indian cricket team. He admitted that he was in a fix when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed him that the national team skipper Virat Kohli had reservations with his coaching style.

“I was informed for the first time yesterday by the BCCI that the Captain had reservations with my ‘style’ and about my continuing as the Head Coach. I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between Captain and Coach. Though the BCCI attempted to resolved the misunderstandings between the Captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I, therefore, believe it is best for me to move on,” wrote Kumble in his statement.

“In light of these ‘reservations’. I believe it is best I hand over this responsibility to whomever the CAC and BCCI deem fit. Let me reiterate that it has been an absolute privilege to have served as Head Coach for the last one year. I thank the CAC, BCCI, CoA and all concerned. I also wish to thank the innumerable followers and fans of Indian cricket for their continued support. I will remain a well-wisher of the great cricketing tradition of my country forever,” he further added.

No more questions, please

The 46-year-old owner of 619 Test wickets is known for his honesty. After Kohli opened up on Kumble’s resignation, reporters tried to communicate with him. But it was of no use as the Bengaluru-born player was not ready to say anything. He ignored the questions by saying “I have said what I wanted to, have nothing more to say. I am too seasoned. You will get nothing out of me.”
