Ankeet Chavan backed up by MCA, ask BCCI to lift life-ban: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is the next in line after Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) to approach the BCCI for lifting up the life ban of the players who were allegedly involved in the IPL 2013 spot fixing case. After the IPL verdict of dropping all charges off the players; the burden now lies on the BCCI. The players S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandela were punished by the BCCI with a life ban after the IPL 2013 corruption controversy emerged however; it is the state boards who have taken up the responsibility to take a step.

The KCA’s support for the fast bowler Sreesanth was followed by MCA’s support for left-arm spinner Ankeet Chavan. A meeting is to be held by the managing committee of the MCA on 2nd August to draft and send a letter to the head of the President of the BCCI  Jagmohan Dalmiya and Secretary Anurag Thakur to reconsider the life ban imposed on Chavan since, the player was cleared of all charges byy the Patiala House on Saturday.

The MCA officials said to the Indian Express, “These players’ names have already been tarnished, and they have gone through a lot. As far as Chavan’s case is concerned, we know that his chances of playing for India are far from reality. But by lifting the life ban, he will at least get a chance to play club cricket. That would help him get his job back.”

“The player was also an employee of the Air India but failed to retain their jobs after the scandal followed. It is being said that Chavan has requested the MCA to forward his plea to the BCCI.”

Ankeet Chavan, said, “I just want to play cricket, this is my only request. Whatever has happened has happened. No one can change that but I hope I will get a chance to play again, be it at any level.”
