India are up against Australia in the second Test match at Melbourne. After ending the hosts’ show on 195 runs in the first innings, visitors came up with their bats on the field. By the end of day one, India were on 36 runs, and Mayank Agarwal had left the pitch. However, with the onset of day two, the guests were in the perfect form to seize the day.
Shubman Gill looked promising as he marked his debut with 45 runs from his bat. However, it was skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s day in the end who stole all the limelight with a brilliant ton (104 off 200). He was supported well enough by Ravindra Jadeja, who made 40 runs on day two. By the end of day two, both of them remained unbeaten and will be keen enough to take up India’s show to great heights on day three.
Seeing India’s top class performance against the arch-rivals, Indian skipper Virat Kohli couldn’t keep calm and took to his Twitter to shower praises on the team. He even congratulated Rahane for his sheer class with the bat while leading the team from the front. Virat posted – “Another great day for us. Proper test cricket at its best. Absolutely, top knock from Jinks @ajinkyarahane88.”

India is up with a lead of 82 runs
Kohli is currently in India to be with his wife Anushka Sharma as she is expected to deliver their first baby in the month of January. Kohli even lauded India’s class on day one as bowlers got their prime game into the display. With Jadeja and Rahane on the crease, India is currently up with a lead of 82 runs, and the score stands at 277. India would be looking forward to maintaining its lead in subsequent days and win the game.
Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc got two wickets each to their credit during their bowling show. While India maintained its top class, there were few misfields and dropped catches from Kangaroos’ end. It will be a thing to see how day three will unfold for both the nations.
