India Under-19s continued their successful run in the One-Day Internationals on their tour of England by defeating the home side by 5 wickets in the first of the 5-match Youth ODI series. After winning the 2-match Youth Test series by 2-0, India featured in the first Youth ODI at the Cardiff under the leadership of Prithvi Shaw.
England got off to a cautious start after they elected to bat first as the Indian Pacers Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi bowled tight lines. Liam Banks and Liam Trevaskis scored 43 and 33 respectively but the middle and lower order failed to get going against the spin duo Anukul Roy and Rahul Chahar. Anukul picked up a 4-for while Chahar and Mavi took 3 wickets each to restrict England to 181.
Chasing a small total, India scored runs at a quick pace early on but lost wickets at the same time as they were half side down for 70 runs in 13.4 overs. But Anukul stepped up with the bat and put up an unbeaten century stand with Salman Khan, who top-scored with 69 to guide India to victory with 93 balls to spare.
