A few weeks after being ousted from his position as the BCCI President, Anurag Thakur has found himself another job as the president of the Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association. After hardly a few months as president of the BCCI, Thakur and his trusted lieutenant Ajay Shirke were ousted by the Lodha Committee who is clearly running the show as far as the operations of the board are concerned.

Thakur however, was highly charismatic in his position as the president of the board. He also oversaw India’s unbeaten run in Tests in 2016 and was also instrumental in appointing a good selection panel as well as the organization of the home series as well. He was also instrumental in the contract signed by incumbent coach Anil Kumble.

The Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association (HOPA) also went on to release a statement that there has been a lack of quality in recent times given the fact that there has not been any infrastructure or quality for concrete development for the same.

“The newly-elected members deliberated on how to improve the quality of sports in the state which has an immense pool of talent but is not doing well due to the lack of quality infrastructure and a concrete policy for the development of the same,” the HPOA said in a statement.

The statement concluded that, “The house decided to have a blueprint for the same with the help of experts and studying the models followed by other states which would be pursued by the government and other stakeholders to be implemented.”
